A working-dog company that teaches
American K-9 Interdiction is a service-disabled veteran-owned corporation. We train detection dogs, deploy K9 teams for clients, and educate the next generation of handlers and trainers — all from one campus in Carrsville, Virginia.
Educate. Certify. Deploy.
Our mission is to educate and certify students to become working dog handlers and trainers who are ready for the field on graduation day — not after a year of on-the-job catch-up.
Because AK9I also operates live detection services — explosives, narcotics, and firearms detection, plus our School K-9 Safety Initiative — our curriculum is checked against real deployments every week. What we teach is what works.
You are always a student, never a master. You have to keep moving forward.

What sets the program apart
Accreditation That Counts
AK9I is the only nationally accredited K9 trade school in the country — ACCET-accredited and approved by Virginia’s State Approving Agency for GI Bill® benefits. Certification meets DOD, NAPWADA, and NNDA standards.
Operational, Not Academic
We deploy detection teams for real clients. Students train on the same standards our operational dogs meet.
Your Dog Goes Home With You
Graduates of qualifying programs keep the K9 they trained with at no additional cost.
Career Pathways
Career development classes, resume and interview coaching, alumni networking, and contacts at partner companies hiring K9 teams.
